What a weekend that was! Success for Scotland, an amazing comeback by Wales and what about that England performance in Dublin?!!
England grabbed the initiative to make themselves favourites to win the 6 nations, Ireland had won 18 of their previous 19 Tests, while England had recovered from five straight defeats to win four out of five while still finding themselves, a narrow defeat to New Zealand followed by a disjointed performance against Japan that required the intervention of Owen Farrell.
Let’s look what’s in store this weekend:
England are at home against France who despite leading by 16 points still managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory against a Welsh side that finally woke up in the 2nd half. England will be favourites but yet again we will have the unpredictable French, which team will turn up? France are not only struggling to learn how to win, they are coming up with the most ridiculous ways to lose on a Rugby field, some real howlers against Wales in the 2nd half. A buoyant England team should capatilise on these errors.
Despite a scoreline of 33-20 Scotland’s win over Italy really wasn’t that close as Italy scored 3 late tries, Scotland were dominant at fortress Murrayfield but they now face a real test with the in-form team of 2018 in Ireland. They will be heavily wounded after defeat at home by England and they are also facing a mounting injury crisis. Expect this game to be a cracker, if Scotland focus and hurt Ireland in the same way England did Irelands chances of the Triple Crown could be over by the end of the 2nd game, it makes for a great weekend of Rugby.
The final game sees Wales travelling to Italy fresh from an incredible second half against the French, wins build momentum and Warren Gatland will hope that 2nd half performance is shown throughout the whole game against the groups whipping boys.
Italy’s forwards will give anyone game but with only Sergio Parisse recognised as a top class player we can only see one winner here.
Sit back, relax and enjoy another great weekend of sport.
